The Three World's Heritage Sites in Hunan


Nowadays,Hunan province boasts three sites to be listed as the World's Heritage.Wulingyuan Scenic Area,Langshan Mountain,and Laosicheng Site ,which are all located in China's Hunan Province,were named as the World Heitage by UNESCO before today.

Wulingyuan Scenic Area

It is located in northwest of Hunan's Zhangjiajie City, was named as the World's Natural and Historical Heritage in 1992.This area was praised as an Island  of nature within a heavily populated agricultural region. A spectacular area stretching some 26,400ha in China’s Hunan Province, the site is dominated by more than 3,000 narrow quartz sandstone pillars, many over 200m high. Nestled within its towering peaks lie ravines and gorges with streams, pools and waterfalls, two large natural bridges, and some 40 caves. Impressive calcite deposits are a notable feature within these caves. In addition to the striking beauty of the landscape, including spectacular jagged stone peaks, luxuriant vegetation cover and clear lakes and streams, the region is also home to a number of endangered plant and animal species...More

Langshan Mountain

It is situated in Xingning County,southwest of Hunan's Shaoyang City, was listed as the World's Natural Heritage by UNESCO in 2010.Langshan Mountain is famous for Danxia Landform,Danxia, which means "rosy cloud", is a special landform formed from reddish sandstone that has been eroded over time into a series of mountains surrounded by curvaceous cliffs and many unusual rock formations.Covering an area of 108 square kilometres, Langshan Mountain has rich natural scenery and  abundant tourism resources. There are more than 60 scenic spots in Langshan Mountain. Among which the most famous are Tianyi Lane, Chili Peak, Zixia Cave,Fuyi River, Innate Bridge, Bajiao Stronghold,Emperor Xun Forest Park and Xicun Ancient Dwelling...More


Laosicheng Site

It is located in Yongshun County, Hunan Province's Xiangxi Tujia & Miao Autonomous Prefecture, was praised as the World's Cultural Heritage Site in Aug,2015. Laosicheng, also called Laosi Town,was discovered in 2001. it is the largest, earliest and best preserved ancient Tusi cities in southern China...More
