The People's Republic of China was founded in 1949. China is one of the biggest countries in the world. It has an area of about 9.6 million square kilometers which comprises about 6.5 per cent of the world total land area. Its population of more than one billion accounts for 23 per cent of the world's population. China is the world's oldest continuous civilization. National Flag of China
The national flog of China is The Five-starred Red Flag, on the top left corner of which are one big yellow star and four small yellow stars. The four ones center upon the big one, symbolizing all the Chinese ethnic groups uniting as one under the leadership of Chinese Communist Party.
National Emblem of China

The national emblem is made up of the five stars on the national flag and the Tian’anmen (signifying the nation), a gear (signifying working class), and ears of rice (signifying the peasantry). The color of yellow and red of the emblem embody a traditional idea of auspiciousness and jubilance.

China is the populous country in the world. By the end of 2014 the population on China's mainland reached 1.35 billion.China has 56 ethnic groups.The Han nationality makes au approximately 92% of the total population mainly living in the eastern part of the country,which the 55 ethnic groups  account for 8% of the total population in China. The Han nationality,which makes up the overwhelming majority of the population,uses the Han (Chinese) language, which is spoken in all parts of the country,Other 55 ethnic groups us their own spoken languages.But it is not uncommon for saveral ethnic groups to share a common language.


China is a multi-religious state.Various religions exert different influence on different ethnic groups. The Hui, Yugur,Kazak,Ozbek,Tajik,Kirgiz, Tatar, Dongxiang,Salar,and Bonan nationalities follow Islam;the Tibetan,Mongolia,Dai,and Yugur nationalities follow Buddhism and Lamaism; Christianity is followed by the Miao,Yao,Yi nationalities.The majority Han nationality people believe in Buddhism, Christianty and Taoism.The Chinese people enjoy freedom of religion.


The offical currency in China id the Reminbi(RMB).The basic units is the yuan (also known as "kuai"),which eauals 10 jiao,which is then divided into 10 fen. Paper currency coms in 1,2,5,10,20,50,100 yuan notes, Paper jiao comes in denominations of 1,2,5.As for coins,there is 1 yuan.


Most luxury hotels in China have built-in converters in bathrooms for shaves,hair dryers,etc,Othervise,come equiped,because an amazing variety of plug types in use.The voltage is 220 volts.
