Nayun Ancient Town ( Chinese name: 娜允古镇) , is located in Menglian County of Pu'er City, Southwest China's Yunnan Province. As the last preserved-well ancient town for Dai Minority, Nayun Town has been listed as one of the historic and cultural towns of Dai Nationality. Nayun Ancient Town is surrounded by historic religious buildings, that is, uptown, midtown and downtown Buddhist temples.
"Nayun Town" , with over 700 years history, means " inside city" in Dai Language. The construction of the building houses is a style with Han and Dai minoties. In Chinese histoty, 28 Chieftains had controled and managed this area over 600 years.

Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office
Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office, located in the highest place in the uptown, is called "Hehan" in Dai language, meaning the golden palace. Chieftain is called “Zhao Hehan”, meaning the King in the golden palace, who enjoys the high status in the ancient society of feudal laird system of Dai Nationality. People often call the great palace as the Chieftain Residence. Among 18 largest Chieftain Residences in Yunnan Province, Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office is the best-preserved one, also being regarded as the government office of Dao Family, the local chieftain of Dai people. Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office, with high historical and art value, is also a well-preserved residence among the 18 government offices in the ethnic minority areas near Yunnan border.

Menglian Golden Pagoda
Completed in April 1997, Golden Pagoda of Menglian is a splendid and glittering pagoda of Hinayana Buddhist subject to the influence of the typical culture of South Asia. The scenic spot is comprised of a 31.6m-high main tower and 24 attached towers surrounding the main one. Each tower is decorated with wind-bells tinkling crisp and jingling chimes along with the wind. Dai people believe that the jingling sound is unique to Brahma from heaven, providing people with an exotic connotation of Buddhism.
Golden Pagoda of Menglian, opposite to Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office, is a symbol of the unity and progress among all ethnic groups inhabited in Menglian County. Menglian Xuanfuci Department Chieftain Government Office, called "Hehan" in Dai language, which means "the golden palace", is perfectly matched with Golden Pagoda of Menglian, thus adding more splendors to each other. Golden Pagoda of Menglian is the largest gold-decorated stupa in Yunnan Province as well as a wonderful attraction of Menglian County.
