Meals on Trains and Cruise Boat

When you travel to China, most of you will hope to feel a real China. It is a good chance to get close to Chinese citizens and have the same experience with them if you to take train  while you travel in China. By the way, some of them do not want to miss the cruises in China. We are going to offer you some suggestions or tips on the meals of trains or cruise in China.

Meals on the train

As a huge and geographically diversified country in the world, China has an enormous population. Although the aviation industry in China is developed enough, train is also a main transportation in China. Most people still choose to travel by train if time is not too tight. With the more and more advanced technology, many old-fashioned trains are replaced by the modern high speed train.

The domestic trains can provide a variety of food for travelers. Each train has a dining car, where passengers can go to buy and have meals. Besides, train crew also pushed his cart to each carriage, selling various drinks, snacks, fresh fruits, biscuit, instant noodle for passengers, and even frozen food. Food consumption on the train are not included in the train fare.

Train station kiosks will sell food and beverages. Meanwhile, the platform will have some small vendors selling various foods (such as eggs, fish, cheese, bread, fruit and snacks).

Compared to the food and things in local restaurant or supermarket, those on the trains are more expensive. But the railway station and trains allows passengers to bring their own food. Therefore, if you would like to save money, you could choose to bring your own food. You can go to supermarket to buy something you like and easy to bring, such as bread, biscuit, fresh fruits, instant noodle, snack, etc before you go to catch your train.

Each car of the train has a water tank to provide free hot water to passengers. Therefore, you can bring your own cup, tea or coffee. Besides, passengers can buy beverages in the dining car, which can be brought back to your own carriage.

Meals on Cruise Boad

Meals on Yangtze River Cruise
Yangtze River Cruise is a classic cruise for a China tour. Generally speaking, a downstream Chongqing-Yichang cruise needs 3 nights and 4 days, which are recommended. A upstream Yichang-Chongqing cruise takes 4 nights and 5 days. All the cruise boats on Yangtze River offer buffet lunches and dinners, except the 1st meal on the check-in day and the last meal on the check-out day.

Therefore, passengers can have meal before check in and after check out at the local restaurants. Besides, a la carte meals are available on board, but it is not included in the cruise fee. Passengers need to pay extra for the a la carte food.

Meals on Li River Cruise Boat
Li River Cruise is one of the highlights for a tour to Guilin. We often recommend our clients to take the better boat with Chinese buffet lunch. Although it is a buffet lunch, the choice is still limited on board. Therefore, it is not as good as that offered in restaurant or hotels. If you hope to eat better, please let us know in advance so that we could prepare a lunch box for your cruise trip.
