Kiwi of Xiangxi
Kiwi, is a special kind of fruits which is regarded as the most nutrient-rich of the top 26 fruits consumed in the world today, is worldwide recognized as "king of fruit" and "world treasure fruit". Containing rich mineral substances and multi-amino acids such as leucine and PHE, it has a remarkable nutritional value and thus gets popular all over the world, especially in the developed countries, as a new health-care fruit.
Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan is the main production area of Xiangxi kiwi which is locally called Yang Tao or Mao Tao. Largely covered by mountain areas, the prefecture is in subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, plentiful sunshine and abundant rainfall. All these favorable natural conditions are extremely suitable for the cultivation of kiwi. In addition, adjacent to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hubei Province, Xiangxi has a high selenium contents in its soil, which provides unique soil environment for planting kiwi.
Xiangxi kiwi is big in size and high in seed containing rate, storability and yield. The kiwis are non-pollution, nutrient-rich and taste sweet and sour, which contribute to its superiority among all kiwi fruits.
"Xiangxi Kiwi" passed the assessment of China's National Geographical Indication Product protection in November 2007, making its brand value under legal protection of the country.
