Longevity Pagoda ( also called Wanshou Baoda) in jingzhou is a national major cultural relic protection site which is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei province. As a famous scenic area of culturalrelicsand Yangtze River flood-control historic record, Jingzhou Longevity Pagoda in the park was built in the31th year under the reign of Emperor Jiajing (1552) in Ming Dynasty.
There are more than 10,000 plants like ginkgo,wintersweet, cedar, metasequoia, pomegranate, osmanthus, etc. Guanyinji,a dam extending more than 200 meters into the river, was built in the SouthSong Dynasty, a flood-control project. It splits the water, slows down theflow, consolidates the bank stability, and plays an important rolein protecting the whole Jianghan Plain from the damage of Jingjiang River. So the project is highly concerned by all the governments in Chinese history. It becomes a national and even a world popular tourist spot on the flood season each year. On the dam, the Yangtze River water heightrecord line marked in 1998 and Jingjiang flood split line marked in 1954 arestill visible. For the memorial of 1998 flood-fighting, Jingzhou CPC Committee and government built a"98 Flood-fighting Memorial Museum" on the side of theGuanyinji Dam to remember the great victory in the fight against flood.
