Shanxi Black Pottery

Shanxi  Black Pottery is one of the intangible cultural heritages with the history of five thousand years old. It is a great sign for the Neolithic, and is known as “treasure of pottery” because it is as black as the lacquer, as shining as the mirror, as thin as the paper, as sonorous as Qing(ancient Chinese musical instrument), and as hard as the porcelain.

Eight or nine strict processes take place, including selecting, making and milling, forming, engraving, drying, sintering, polishing and preparing into a finished product. Its uniqueness endows the black potter distinctive characteristics.

With supreme technique, craftsmanship spirit and beautiful look, each of the abundance of black potteries is a masterpiece, and yet “the art of clay and fire, and the crystallization of power and beauty”.

Zhang Furong, a ceramic artist and a professional in industrial art in Shanxi Province, with tireless work and fervent dedication, once again heightened and magnified the ancient cultural treasure.
