Day 1:  Arrive in Taiyuan
Upon arrival  Taiyuan Wusu Airport or Datong Railway Station, you are greeted by local tour guide and transferred to your hotel in Taiyuan,the capital city of Shanxi Province.

Then, take a drive to Pingyao Ancient Town from Taiyuan. On the way, visit Jinci Temple, which combines the historic cultural relics and fabulous natural landscapes together. There are three additional wonders here that draw people from across the world. These are: The Figures of The Maidservants, the Zhou Cypress and the Never Aging Spring. Each of the Figures of the Maidservants that stand in the Saint Mother Hall, colored clay sculptures made during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), are unique. Whether these statuettes are washing, sweeping or dancing, they are all sculpted in a vivid and natural way.

Thereafter, transfer to visit  Liuxiang Pedestrian Street which is the popular shopping street with over 300 years.

Hukou Waterfall is the largest yellowish waterfall in the world and the second largest waterfall in China next to Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province. Its tableau has appeared in many Chinese classical paintings and once printed on the Chinese current of 50-yuan bill. Yellow River, known as the Mother River of China, originates in Qinghai Province, then runs all the way eastwards and across the Qin-jin Gorge in the northwest Loess Plateau. As it flows to Hukou Village where the river course is sharply reduced from 500 meters wide to only about 50 meters, the brown and muddy water of the Yellow River cascades and pours into a stone pond which is more than 30 meters lower than the primitive river course, creating an illusion as if thousands of wild horses which have just been set free, tumbling, ragingly running forward wildly. As a result, this spectacular waterfall appears. With a shape of the spout of a kettle, it was named Hukou (meaning kettle spout literally) Waterfall. May to October is the best time to see the powerful waterfall. While in winter, you can see calm glacier fall.

After the sightseeing, transfer back to Linfen Wesr Railway Station to catch your train D530 at 18:15 back to Pingyao Ancient City Railway Station at 19:07.

Day 3: Pingyao Ancient City 

Today, your Pingyao Ancient City tour starts from the Ancient City Wall of Pingyao, where you can have a panorama view of the layout of this town. Then you will move on to the Rishengchang Former Bank, which shows you the original bank system in the past.

After that, stroll on the traditional Ming and Qing Street, a cobbled road with old buildings on either side. You may like tracing back to the former bustle bazaar in the old days. Later, visit the Temple of City God, which also called Chenghuangmiao in Chinese. You will appreciate the wonderful wood carvings, paintings and sculptures in the old temple.

The last travel destination today is Shuanglin Monastery, where contents a large amount of clay figures and wooden sculptures of various gods, goddesses and saints. You will be impressed by the traditional Chinese art forms.

Day 4: Pingyao-Departure 

Today, you will firstly head to Wang’s Family Compound, the complex for another rich family in Shanxi Province, near Pingyao. You will see the traditional layout and wooden construction and explore how the rich family lived in the ancient times.
