Jingniang Lake

Jingniang Lake, located in Wuan City of Hebei Province's Handan City,  got its name from the romantic story between Emperor Taizu of Song Dynasty and a lady called Jingnian. Jingniang Lake covers an area of 18.5 square kilometers which can be divided into three parts: water tour area, Zhenyi Island and leisure area. In 2005, it was rated as a national water conservancy scenic area and it is also called the“ Pearl of the Taihang Mountain”.

The water tour area is about 1.782 million square meter large and a peculiar-shaped reservoir is called the beauty pond which contains 32 million cubic meters of water. The valley makes this area similar to the view of Southern China and it is very cool in summer. The Yizhen Island divides the water area into two parts. In the eastern part, there are spots like the tiger cave, goddess barn, screen mountain, tortoise exploring the sea, two rainbows reflecting the moon, a gleam of sky and Huofa Mountai; and in the western part, there are peaceful lake on the high mountain, the former site for Emperor Taizu to write a poem, Taizu Valley, Jingniang Valley, Dayi rock, Dicui Pond and Dressing Table. Here you can appreciate the charming natural views on the lake, the deep valleys and red cliffs.

The forest coverage rate of the Zhenyi Island reached 98%, the annual average temperature is 19 degrees, and that in summer is 26 degrees, which makes it an ideal place to avoid heat. On the island there are also well-preserved natural secondary forest, and other trees like walnut, chestnut, peach, almond, mulberry, black date and oak. There are wild animals like boar, pheasant, squirrel, thrush and cuckoo. Wild herbal medicines include polygonum multiflorum, pinellia ternata, poria cocos and other nameless species. There is a pedestrian surrounding the island where you can see the pines, cypresses, flowing rivers and listen to birds singing and feel the smell of the flowers. We also recommend you to step on the top of the mountain, the Songzu Peak, to see the sky and the cloud near you and hold all mountains in a single glance.
