Joss Sticks


Incense sticks, also called joss sticks. The heart of the incense sticks is a bamboo stick, coated by incense material. Once lit, both materials will burn down.

Incense stick is composed of aromatic substances, when burned it releases more or less fragrant smoke.  Incense have always been important to the practice of many religions. Burning incense is considered to be the most popular way to get rid of negative energies in a house and bring forth new positive vibes.

Incense used in connection with temples are a common form of sacrificial offering to a god or deity. It is also claimed, that the incense’s smell purifies the air and repels mosquitoes and other insects, so that not only the god or deity is not bothered by the insects, but meditation can be practised less disturbed, less distracted.
