Qingxi Village


Qingxi Village is the former residence of Mr. Zhou Libo, a renowned modern Chinese writer. Qingxi Village is also the  archetype for the village described in his famous novel—Great Changes of Mountain Areas. 

No.1 Village of the Great Changes in Mountain Area, closely adjacent to the downtown of Yiyang City , is located on the west of the provincial highway S308. It is a national AAAA-level scenic spot in Yiyang. The Village covers an area of 2 square kilometers, with 468 families living in it. It was constructed in the October of 2007. 

The layout of No.1 Village could be summarized as “one axis and three 
sections”. Three sections refer to Zhou Libo’s Former Residence, Former Site of Qingxi Village, and Old House Area.
Zhou Libo’s Former Residence was built in the 53rd year of Qianlong Emperor in Qing Dynasty. It was listed as a provincial key unit of cultural relics protection. Besides the Former Residence is there Libo Snack Street , where plenty of delicious snacks and dishes with local flavor are served. Around the Former Residence is a pear garden built with the donation from Zhou’s remuneration of novel-writing.
Former Site of Qingxi Village is between Qingxi West Road and the North Road . This section mainly includes the former site of Qingxi Village , the folk art square and a 100-mu lotus pond with clusters of green leaves and red blossoms.
Old House Area is on the east of Qingxi North Road . The main scenery is the old houses which reflect the local villager’s habitation and life style. Besides, there is also a farming experience zone where tourists can plant fruits and vegetables by themselves, and a temple of the local god of land where the farmers pray for harvest. 
Along the Qingxi South and North Road are gurgling streams. And eight group sculptures have been set up on both sides of Qingxi South and West road according to the plot of Mr. Zhou Libo’s novel. On the edge of Qingxi South Road is a 1000-meter-long corridor with green fruits and vegetables and a planting area for high quality rice.
