Nanyang Wuhou Temple, also known as Zhuge Liang Temple, is a large-scale ancestral building complex built to commemorate Zhuge Liang, a famous military strategist during the Three Kingdoms Period(220-280). It is also the site of Zhuge Liang’s “ Living as a pesant in Nanyang” and the story of Liu Bei’s “ Visited the cottage three times” and “ Talking in the Cottage”.
The Wuhou Temple was built originally in the Wei & Jin Dynasty. It was praised as" the Firts Post in China" in the Tang Dynasty. And now it has become a famous cultural landscape. After many renovations and expansions in history, the layout style of Yuan and Ming Dynasties has been basically maintained. The ancient buildings are simple and elegant, and the plaques are high-hanging. There are many stone-filled monuments in the interior, and the ancient trees are towering.
There are 267 rooms in the temple. The layout is rigorous and suitable. In front of the temple is the magnificent and elegant "Eternal Age Dragon" stone archway, towering outside the door, looking at the pillars, under the backdrop of the pines and cypresses, making Wuhou Temple look even more spectacular.
Stepping into the Wushan Mountain Gate, the face is the Dabai Hall, the temple is decorated with Zhuge Liang and his son Zhu Gezhan and his grandson Zhuge Shang's large clay sculpture. On the front side of the main hall is the Ming Dynasty monument, inlaid with the stone carvings of the "Teacher's Table" before and after Yue Fei's writing.
There are “Zhuge Jing” and “Suining Reading Desk” outside the mountain gate. After worshiping the temple, it is built according to the life scene of Zhuge Liang’s ploughing period, such as the Maolong, the Gengting Pavilion and the Wild Clouds. The left side of the courtyard is about Zhang Dian, San Gu Tang, Xie Yuting, and the right side is the Taoist House. There are Zhuge Academy in the audience, Congzhuyu, pine and cypress, and the scenery is pleasant.
