Helan Mountain National Reserve


Helan Mountain is the largest north-south mountain range in northwestern China. Helan Mountain National Reserve covers a large area, 261 square miles, with the highest peak measuring 11,700 feet. It lies in the transitional zone between grassland and desert in  Alxa League of Inner Mongolian Region.
 
Helan Mountain Virgin Forest 
Walk into the virgin forest of Helan Mountain, you will feel you are entering a natural "zoo" which is home to hundreds of wild animals such as musk deer, berghaan, foxes and dzeren. Standing on top of the mountain and having a vertical view, you will be dazzled by the vast green sea of trees and, at the same time, be astonished by this marvelous creation of nature.

Guangzong Temple
Built in 1757,  Guangzong Temple , also called Nan Temple, and called "Kadan Jilin" in Tibetan, is located in the Helan Mountain Nature Reserve. Helan Mountain is a tourist area including Tibetan Buddhist culture and natural scenery. The temple is built on the mountain.  The rock walls on both sides of the temple gate are filled with painted Buddha statues, which is the largest group of stone sculpture Buddha statues in Inner Mongolia. Guangzong Temple is well known in Mongolia and Tibet  religious because it has  the spirit tower with the body of the sixth Dalai Lama.  At its peak, there were 2859 houses and more than 1500 monks in the temple.

Fuyin Temple
Fuyin Temple, commonly known as "North Temple", is located in the middle of Helan Mountain Nature Reserve.  Founded by the son of King Alashanin 1804,  it was named  "Fuyan Temple" by the Emperor Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) after the conversion of the Sixth Panchen Lama.
