Beizi Temple


Beizi Temple, with the Chinese name " 崇善寺" (Chongshan Si), is located on the hillside in the northern part of Xilinhot City. In 1743 during the  Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it was supported to buildby the Beizi ( also  prince)  Balaji Dalji, hence it is called " Beizi Temple" by local people. As a Buddhist temple, it  is a must-visit place for tourists to come to Xilinhot. 
 
Beizi Temple is  a holy place for Tibetan Buddhism. It is noly only the largest temple in Xilinguole League but also a treasure of Buddhist culture in Xilinguole League. So, Beizi Temple has the reputation of "the famous temple in north China". 
 
 The whole temple has 5 main halls. The Chaoqin Hall for administrative affairs is located in the middle of the temple.  On both sides of it, they are the Labrang Hall (also Living Buddha Hall), Butri (Philosophy) Hall, Manba (Medical Affairs) Hall and Zhu Deba  ( for Astronomy and Mathematics) Hall. 
 
In addition to these halls, there are over ten small halls and more than two thousand houses. The whole temple is surrounded by a red pagoda and five white pagodas, of which the red pagoda was built to suppress evil. 
 
There are also a large number of murals in the temple reflecting the history and life of the Mongolian nation. There are a large number of picture sculptures, clay sculptures, and Buddha statues mainly based on Sakyamuni Buddha statues.
 
After the temple was built, this place became the main place of worship for the surrounding Mongolian herdsmen. With more than two hundred years of history and inheritance, the temple incense still flourishes despite sufferings.
