Lover River in Kaohsiung

The Love River is one of the popular attractions in Kaohsiung City,Taiwan Province. It was originally a canal used to transport timber during the Japanese colonial period(1894-1944). Although its name is related to the martyrs, it is now a place for lovers to show their affection.

Along the river, it is full of well-known landscapes, such as the water park, the 228 Peace Park, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the True Love Pier, etc. The riverside park is built on the downstream river bank, and dragon boating activities are held here every year during the Dragon Boat Festival.

The Dome of Light is located inside the metro Formosa Station, it is a huge public artwork designed by a famous artist Maestro Narcissus Quagliata. Its theme is "Love and Pardon", and it presents a person's whole life as well as his renascence through pictures.

There are also many stops along the line for tourists to take a "love boat" to browse the beautiful scenery of the river bank. The most beautiful section is between Kaohsiung Bridge and Qixian Bridge. There are many cafes on both sides of the strait. Drink a cup of coffee, chat and watch the night view.
