Foguang Mountain


Foguang Mountain is the most prestigious Buddhist holy land in Taiwan Island. It is  famous for th Foguang Mountain Monastery.Foguang Mountain Monastery, It is the largest and the most famous Buddhist shrine in Taiwan. The architectures are all very magnificent and imposing. The landmark of the temple is a 120-foot-high (36-meter-high) golden big Buddha.

The temples on the mountain are magnificent and famous for their giant sculptures. The most prominent symbol is the golden body that leads to the Buddha. The left hand of the Buddha is hanging down to make a welcoming shape, and the right hand is raised to the top. Shoulders, palms forward, fingers upwards, it means "lead to heaven." In addition, there is the stunning Buddha Memorial Hall, with 8 pagodas on both sides, and a huge Buddha statue sitting behind the main hall.  

The mountain is full of lanterns, and there is a sea of lanterns at night; this tradition does not disappear due to the closure of the mountain. You can go up the mountain to enjoy the lanterns during the 15-day open period. .From the Spring Festival to Lantern Festival, festive lanterns are hanged everywhere, when is a great time for a visit.
