Yuchang Tulou Cluster


Yuchanglou, (Chinese:裕昌楼), also known as Yuchang Tulou Cluster, belongs to the tulou cluster in Nanjing Tulou Cluster. It is located  in Xiabanliao village in Shuyang Town of  Nanjing County, Zhangzhou City. Built at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty (about 1368) by the Liu clan, it is currently the oldest and largest round building in Fujian.

 

Yuchang Tulou  is an ancient building in Nanjing County. With an area of 2289 square meters, Yuchanglou is the existing largest and oldest round earthen building in Nanjing County.  It is famous for its sloping pillars, probably a manufacturing defect, 

Yuchanglou is also nicknamed as the “leaning building”, because the vertical wooden post structure is not straight, but leaning left and right. It was constructed like this mainly due to a mistake in measuring the building material.

Yuchanglou is 36 meters in diameter and has five storeys, with 50 rooms on each floor.and yet Tulou Yuchanglou has been standing for over 600 years!With five-storey clay, It is also one of the oldest and largest earthen building in China.

Tranport: 
1. Take the train to Nanjing Railway Station, and directly take the tourist bus outside the station. It departs every 1 hour, 20 yuan/person, and the journey takes 1.5 hours; or go to Nanjing Bus Station and transfer to the Tulou special line, 20 RMB/person; or chartered, about 40 RMB/person. 2. Take the bus to Tianluokeng at 8:30 at Xiamen Hubin South Long-distance Bus Station, the fare is 55 yuan, and the journey takes about 3.5 hours
