Quanzhou West Street


Quanzhou West Street was built in the Northern Song Dynasty (907-1127, and was the earliest street and area developed in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. In the Song Dynasty, it symbolized the prosperity of Quanzhou.

Quanzhou West Street is also the most well-preserved ancient district in Quanzhou. Here, a large number of original buildings with historical appearance are preserved. There are now more than 20 cultural relics protection units at various levels in the West Street area, which belong to various categories such as ancient buildings, ancient ruins, and stone carvings. There are 12 well-protected ancient buildings and ancient dwellings.

Quanzhou’s history, culture, folklore, and food are all gathered here. Tourists can visit the ancient homes of southern Fujian, arcades, temples, churches, and roads. Among them, the west end of West Street is Kaiyuan Temple, and the east end is the Bell Tower and Zhongshan Road. The three Quanzhou are must-visit attractions for tourists. You can also eat countless Fujian specialty snacks.
