Pingxiang City, located in the western part of Jiangxi Province, borders Yichun City in the east, Ji'an City in the south, Zhuzhou City of Hunan Province in the west, and Liuyang City of Hunan Province in the north. It is 100 kilometers from Changsha, and 280 kilometers from Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi province.

History of Pingxiang
The territory of present Pingxiang City successively belonged to the Wu Kingdom and the Chu Kingdom in Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770BC-221BC). In the year of 267, Pingxiang County was set here, and in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it was exalted to a prefecture. In March 1970, Pingxiang was a provincial city under Jiangxi Province.


What to see in Pingxiang?
In Pingxiang City, its geographic type is simple. The area of Pingxiang belongs to the hilly area of South China. The terrain of Pingxiang is higher in the north and the southeast, while lower in the central. Wugong Mountain, the major attraction of Pingxiang,  is one of the three famous mountains in South China.

Brass music and Caicha Drama are representatives of Pingxiang's folk art, by which visitors can get a better understanding of the local customs while traveling here.


When to visit Pingxiang?
Pingxiang belongs to the subtropical zone enjoying a humid monsoon climate. It has plentiful sunshine and abundant rainfall, with an annual average temperature of 17.3C (63.1F). The weather in winter is moderate and the summer is hot.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons to travel to Pingxiang. Visitors can go out for a walk in the county in spring and enjoy the beautiful autumn landscape in mountains. 
How to reach Pingxiang?
By Air:  Visotors can take  special buses about 120 km from Changsha Huanghua International Airport  to Pingxiang.  
By Railway: Shanghai-Kunming Railway runs from east to west in Pingxiang City.  In 2014, Pingxiang North Station was set up . It only takes half an hour to Changsha, 3 hours to Shanghai or Hangzhou, 4 hours to Guangzhou, and less 1 hour to Nanchang.
By Bus:  Pingxiang is the transportation center of Jiangxi and Hunan. Highways of G319,  G320, G322 and G60,G72, S89 pass through Pingxiang. Pingxiang Long Distance Bus Station located at the North Yuejin Road (near the railway station), Pingxiang downtown. Visitors can reach Pingxiang by bus from Changsha, Nanchang,Liuyang,etc.
