The formation of the Jilin region has undergone a long historical evolvement. From early Qin Dynasty, Jilin has always been an administrative region governed by the central governments of various dynasties. It became a county in the Han Dynasty, Bohai in the Tang Dynasty, a prefecture in the Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, a government office in Qing Dynasty. In 1653 AD (the 10th year during the reign of Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty), it developed into Ningguta Angbang Zhangjin(high-ranking official in Qing Dynasty), thus starts the Jilin province, and then Ningguta General in 1662 AD(the first year of Kangxi Period of Qing Dynasty). In 1673 AD, Jilin city comes into being, was called Jilinwula in old times (meaning along the Songhua River in Manchu language), thus the name of Jilin province. In 1757 AD, the Ningguta General is replaced by Jilin General, from then on; the address of "Jilin" has upgraded from a county to an administrative region.
