Tanggula Mountain Pass


With an elevation of about 5231 meters, Tanggula Mountain Pass is the boundary between Qinghai Province and Tibet Region.  Tangula Mountain Pass is known as "wind and snow warehouse" due to the wind and snow are all year round.
Tanggula Mountain, also known as Dangla Mountain or Dangkong Mountain, is the watershed of the Yangtze River and Nu River. The mountain is more than 150 kilometers wide, with the altitude more than 5000-6000 meters. Its main peak Gladandong, with an altitude of more than 6000 meters, is the main water source and birthplace of the Yangtze River.
 
The People's Liberation Army  Monument is located there so as to memorize them to dedicate to the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway at the mountain pass.  At the foot of the mountain, It is the Kekexili uninhabited area which is also a comfortable pasture for endangered wildlife such as Tibetan antelopes.
