Fenghuang Climate Weather


Located on the eastern side of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Fenghuang County belongs to a humid climate with a sub-tropical monsoon.  With an average temperature of 16℃, it has a pleasant weather in all four distinct seasons.  With the coldest in January, the hottest in July and August, Fenghuang has a relatively high humidity, which is relatively warm in summer and not long in winter. It is short and beautiful.
Climate & Weather by Season
 
Spring (March-May):  In spring, the weather is quite fine with a temperature of about 20 ℃. The plants turn to green and the beautiful, Tuojiang River is often under the mist and fog in the early morning. The climate is getting warmer in spring and the flowers are in full bloom. In the morning, you can see the misty scenery of the Tuojiang River.  The smoky Fenghuang Town is beautiful in March is a dream-like.

Summer (June-August): In summer, Phoenix Town is the most lively, with many tourists and strong popularity, and the riverside of the Tuojiang River is brightly light at night.

Autumn (September-November):  In autumn, the temperature decrease to cool from the hot summer and at the same time, all tasty wild fruits are ripe and sold in the streets. The weather turns cooler in the fall, and there are relatively few tourists. The wild fruits in the mountains are listed, and you can eat fresh kiwi and wild chestnut.

Winter (December-February): It sometimes snows in Phoenix Town in winter. The ancient Town is usually wrapped in silver if it snows, and the whitening Fenghuang is of great charming. 

Best Time to Visit Fenghuang

Fenghuang County has four distinct seasons, plenty of precipitation, and a mild climate, making it more suitable for for travel in all seasons.

The peak tourist season of Fenghuang Ancient City is from March to November each year, and the low season is from November to March of the following year. The weekends and holidays during the peak season are full of tourists.

But if have to choose a best time, maybe it falls from July to September with celebrated ethnic festivals of Miao people, the Songs Festival on the sixth day of lunar June and the Autumn Festival on the 13th Chinese solar term, Liqiu, which means the beginning of the autumn and falls generally on August 8th or 9th. Usually, from March to November, it is the tourism high season with streams of people.
