Chamdo  lies among the upper reaches of the Nujiang, Jinsha and Lancang rivers, in the Hengduan Mountains. High mountains and plateaus make up the main part of the region. Chamdo Town is known as the "Pearl of Eastern Tibet" for its pivotal position of trade and commerce in Tibet. Due to the high temperature and high humidity, Chamdo presents a beautiful red Danxia landform which is rare on the plateau. Qamdo’s charm also lies in the large number of Buddha statues, murals and Thangkas in Qiang Bahrain Temple, the blue Wuran Lake surrounded by meadows and snowy mountains, and the Karuo Ruins that reveals the lifestyle of local people 4,000-5,000 years ago.

Himalayas, Gangdise Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Karakoram Mountains and several other arch-shaped mountains lay in order from southern to northern Ngari. Nyingchi is noted for its verdant mountainous terrain and clear waterways. The Himalayan and Tangula mountains wend their way from west to east to join the Hengduan Mountains. Because of the large number of river valleys and alpine gorges, the region is sometimes referred to as the 'Switzerland of Tibet'.  Traveling in Nyingchi,  you can also feel the magnificent plateau beauty by visiting The Grand Canyon of Yarlung Tsangpo, Yarlung Tsangpo River, Benri Mountain and Midui Glacier. The Grand Canyon of Yarlung Tsangpo is the deepest canyon in China with vast unspoiled forests including wild peach trees and original Tibetan villages. Top Attractions in Nachu
The regionof Nachu is embraced by the mountains of Tanggula, Kangdese and Nyainqentanglha, guarded by snow capped Dargo Mountain in the west and Burgyi Mountain in the east. Its terrain slopes downward from the west to the east. The average altitude of the region is over 4,500 meters. Its eastern part holds a river valley which is the only agricultural belt in northern Tibet.

The region of Shannan lies in the south of the Kangdese Mountains and Mt. Nyainqentanglha on the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. Its southern area is higher than the north and the west is higher than the east. There are lofty mountains standing and lakes and rivers crisscrossing in the south and west region of Shannan. The whole region is situated in the valley zone between the Kangdese Mountains and the Himalayas.
