Laodaowan Scenic Spot


Laodaowan Scenic Spot is located in southwest of Tianmen Mountain of Zhangjiajie City. It's only 8 km from downtown Zhangjiajie. Opened in 2014, Laodaowan Scenic Spot is famous for waterfalls, deep gorge, crystal pools, wild trees and flowers. And it is one of the top 10 outdoor sites in Zhangjiajie City. However, this area is a good place for people to hike.


What to see?

Entering Laodaowan Scenic Spot, you can take the tram or walk along the road and you will see the flower garden in the valley. There are three tour routes in the senic spot. Here lists the top things to do if you want to have a trip to Laodaowan Scenic Spot.

The East Route

Trekking along the east route of Laodaowan Scenic Spot, you can see the beautiful waterfalls. There are eighteen pools in the stream and there are also many waterfalls floating in the deep valley. Walking up-stairs along the path of the east route, it will take you about 40 minutes hiking. 

The West Route

Also known as the Fairy Valley, the West Route of Laodaowan Scenic Spot is the must-see place which has seven natural and beautiful waterfalls,as well as seven crystal pools. It is recorded that the west route was the old path from down town of Zhangjiajie to the south of Tianmen Mountain in ancient times. Laodaowan means "the old path gorge" in English. In November 1935, Marshal He Long once led the Red Army to  start the Long March , they walked along the path in order to get rid of the KMT's runing.

The Middle Route

After hiking along the West Route of Laodaowan Scenic Spot, you will get to the Middle Route. Connected the East Route and the West Route, it is has  36 bends along the middle path.  It was the key road  to coss the high mountain for people in ancient times.
