Day 2: Urumqi Tour
In the afternoon visit the Xinjiang Museum, where you will see some world famous ancient mummies such as “Beauty of Loulan” and many other cultural relics. The Ethnic Minority Exhibition is also interesting to visit.

Morning drive 200 km to Turpan and start with a visit to Jiaohe Ancient City, built in the 2nd BC on a long and narrow plateau with a river on each side, it served as a garrison town in Han Dynasty and it was prosperous in Tang Dynasty but was destroyed by war in the late XIII century.
Coming up is Karez irrigation system, which is created by connecting a series of wells by tunnels to the foothills of the mountain so as to bring the underground water to the oasis.
Then to Imin Minaret, which was built in 1777 in memory of Imin Hoja who, as the leader of Turpan, was always at the head of his army to fight against rebellions.The surface of the minaret is beautifully decorated with brickwork.
Day 4: Turpan-Hami by bus
After that visit Astana Tombs, which is close to Gaochang and regarded as the underground museum with lots of relics and mummies that date back to the period between 3rd and 8th century AD.
Then go to Bezeklic Caves in the valley of the Flaming Mountain. Among 77 caves, 40 of them remained with fragments of mostly Buddhist murals. First construction of the caves started in the 6th century and in the 9th century it served as the royal temple for the Uyghur Gaochang Kingdom.In the afternoon after lunch at the town of Shanshan we drive about 400km to Hami.

Day 5: Hami-Departure
In the morning visit Hami’s most important historical site Tombs of Hami Kings, which is situated only 2 km away. The complex consists of mausoleums of Hami kings with their families and a grand mosque called Id Kah that can hold as many as 5000 people for religious service. The tombs were built by the seventh king with the help of the Qing government in 1840. The construction was completed with typical Islamic domes on the top of multi-tiered wooden eaves in the Chinese style. Then our service ends. (option: Take next excursion to Dunhuang by road).
